Change comes in all shapes and sizes
Sometimes we are looking for a change, other times it is thrust upon us, or maybe it just creeps up when we are looking the other way. More often than not, change, even if it’s wanted, comes with a little grief and loss along with anticipation, reluctance, excitement, uncertainty… it’s a lot. Any new chapter means an old one is ending and coaching can help us to process that loss at the same time as we turn to face what’s next. Maybe your children are leaving the nest, or you’re approaching 60 and wondering what you want from the next life stage, Q3, or perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed and in need of a change but not sure where to start.
It can be enormously helpful to be witnessed as we face change, to know that it is human and that change is, after all, a part of life. Often we feel fear when we meet change, but as Gloria Steinem wrote, fear is a sign of growth. When we’re approaching something that is unknown, it means we are growing. Holding change as an opportunity for growth can be a helpful perspective.
